What applies

• Register with ERA when first placing packaging on the Maltese market and renew annually. Join an authorised PRO for sales/grouped packaging or submit the individual/self-compliance plan where allowed.
• Registration route: self service plus pro or epr scheme

What to prepare

• Legal company name and registered address
• Company/trade registration number
• VAT or tax number
• Contact person, email and telephone
• Brands/trading names
• Packaging types, component materials and weights
• Country-level annual quantities by required reporting category

How to submit

1. 1Register the producer with ERA at first market placement.
2. 2Appoint an authorised representative for direct sales from outside Malta where required.
3. 3Join an authorised PRO for sales/grouped packaging or submit the self-compliance plan for the permitted stream.
4. 4Submit annual quantities and independently verified recovery data where applicable.
5. 5Retain registration renewal, PRO agreement, reports and audit evidence.

Ongoing obligations

• Renew annually and report packaging placed on market plus waste collected, recycled and recovered; self-compliance information requires independent verification/audit as specified.
• Update the registration when company, representative, brand, packaging stream or contact information changes.
• Reconcile national reports to sales and packaging bills of materials; retain the submitted values and official result.
